Join us for our NAESCO State and Local Roundup. In this webinar, we will have David Terry open the session with an update of the activities and focus of the nation’s state energy offices. David will let us know what’s on the minds of our state energy offices. After David, Min Le, of Los Angeles County will give us an update of what the county has been doing. Min Le and Tim Unruh, NAESCO's Executive Director, go back to their days at the US Department of Energy, where Min was the Director of the Solar Power office at DOE.

Presenters

David Terry, Executive Director, National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO)

David Terry is the President of the National Association of State Energy Officials and has worked with NASEO in a variety of capacities since 1996. Mr. Terry leads NASEO's policy actions and programs in support of the 56 governor-designated state and territory energy directors and their offices. NASEO communicates the states' views on virtually all national energy issues. Mr. Terry has participated in governor-led policy meetings, testified before U.S. Congressional Committees and presented at White House and international energy forums. Mr. Terry has 25 years of experience working on a range of energy issues for such organizations as the Governors’ Wind and Solar Energy and Coalition and Energy Services Coalition. Prior to working in the energy area, Mr. Terry was researcher at the National Academy of Sciences and a statistical analyst for a consumer products market research firm. He received a BA degree from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, and he has completed graduate coursework in statistics and marketing at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia.


Minh Le, General Manager for Energy and Environmental Services, County of Los Angeles

Minh Le serves as the General Manager for Energy and Environmental Services for the County of Los Angeles’ Internal Services Department.  His focus is to help the County and the region become more energy efficient, transition to zero emissions in the transportation sector, and deploy more renewable energy.  Under his leadership, the Southern California Regional Energy Network oversees programs across a 13 county region to support energy efficiency and workforce development in public, commercial, and residential sectors.  His team has deployed over 1,300 Level 2 and DC Fast charging ports across LA County at government facilities with an ambitious goal of 15,000 to support the state’s shift towards zero emissions transportation.  Finally, he is team has deployed solar energy through Power Purchase Agreements to support government operations.

Prior to his current role, Minh served at the federal level at the Department of Energy.  He led the Solar Energy Technologies Office and the SunShot Initiative and latter served at the Office of Management and Budget to support energy and water innovation policy and investments.   Earlier in his career, Minh worked to scale domestic manufacturing of solar and semiconductors in the private sector.  Minh earned his SM and SB degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
