Webinar - Duct Sealing: Better HVAC Systems Lead to Better Buildings

Sealing leaks in HVAC ductwork is an important yet often overlooked Energy Conservation Measure within performance-based projects. In Energy Savings Performance Contracts, duct leakage represents a hidden but persistent source of fan, heating, and cooling energy waste that directly impacts system efficiency, lifecycle costs, and project economics.

This webinar provides an objective overview of duct sealing from a performance-contracting perspective, including how measured leakage reduction translates into verifiable energy savings that can be bundled with other ECMs to improve project cash flow, internal rate of return, and long-term savings persistence. The session provides beneficial education on duct sealing, why it’s important, benefits both known and not thought of as much, testing and verification, and how it contributes to the health, safety, and welfare of building occupants. Duct sealing as an ECM supports ESCO risk management by reducing baseline uncertainty, improving HVAC system performance, and strengthening the durability of stipulated or guaranteed savings across MUSH and Federal portfolios, while also delivering comfort, indoor air quality, and resilience benefits for building occupants.
