Description

The Department of Defense (DoD) has extensive planning related to the operational and geostrategic impacts of climate change. DoD is also the largest consumer of energy in the U.S. Government and has aggressive renewable energy goals. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) has helped to catalyze a dramatic expansion in U.S. manufacturing of solar energy products, and recent changes to the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) have clarified federal purchasing requirements for solar energy, whether as projects, power purchase agreements (PPAs) and energy performance savings contracts (EPSCs). Learn about the role of renewable energy at DoD and relevant purchasing requirements.
